The Christian life is a gift from God, but to share the gospel with others is to allow them (family and friends) to enjoy the same gift that we have! These short segments will allow you to focus on one aspect of God and His Word (or gospel, also known as the Bible). Sometimes we feel reluctant to share with others because we are not sure what to say or we might feel timid about it. Jesus was clear about this but also provided some solace:
“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20).
The goal of these segments is to present one of them with someone you know to begin a conversation. This is a good start for sharing the gospel with someone you know.
Insight: Psalms 1-2; Proverbs 1:1-19 Israel went through multiple cycles of Fall, Redemption, and Revelation. Finally, they wanted an earthly king. God revealed Redemption when one of David’s descendants would sit on the throne (Jesus Christ). A glimpse of Jesus Christ is provided in the Psalms. The Psalms reveal those who delight in the LORD. God and People The LORD watches over the way of the righteous. The way of the wicked leads to destruction.
Insight: Joshua 1:1-18 God used Moses to deliver the Israelites from Egypt. The Israelites disobeyed God and spent forty years in the wilderness. Joshua was then called by God to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land, giving us an example of true spiritual leadership. God and People God is gracious in His provision. He sustained the Israelites as they left Egypt enroute to the Promised Land. God promised never to leave or forsake us.
Insight: Genesis 2:15-18, 20-25; 3:1-24 These passages touch on creation, the fall of man, and the Redemption through Jesus. God and People God’s Sovereignty is primarily noted in the Creation of Adam and Eve. God’s establishment of obedience to Himself as God was implemented with the command to eat from any tree in the Garden of Eden except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. One of the interesting aspects of reading any document is the content itself. When we read, we are looking for content that impacts us, that has special meaning, and in some instances empowers us.
