Insight: John 5:19-6:15

Jesus indicated that “by Himself He can do nothing.” He seeks to please the One who sent Him.

Jesus showed that these He is authoritative in what He spoke by performing a miracle in the feeding of the five thousand.

God and People

God the Father and the Son do the same thing. The Father loves the Son and shows Him all He does. The Father raises the dead and gives them Light. The Father judges no one but has entrusted judgment to the Son. The Father has granted the Son to have Life in Himself. The Father has sent the Son.

The Jewish leaders did not believe in Jesus. They did not have the love of God in their hearts. Neither did they believe in Moses. The miracle of the bread and fish at Galilee caused the people to believe in Jesus.

Jesus

The Son (Jesus) is working and does what He sees His Father doing. The Son has the authority from the Father to judge. Jesus fed the five thousand to demonstrate that the Father has sent Him.

My Response

Sins:

1. Disbelieving Jesus’ Words
2. Avoid coming to Jesus

Promises:

1. Whoever hears Jesus’ word and believes in Him will have eternal life and not be judged.
2. The dead will hear Jesus’ Voice and live.
3. Those who have done evil will be condemned.

Examples:

1. The Father Who is at work and sent the Son.
2. Jesus was sent by the Father.
3. Both the Father and the Son are examples of the Light.
4. John (the apostle) testified to the Truth.

Commands:

1. Jesus commanded the people to sit down at Galilee.
2. After Jesus performed His miracle of feeding the people, He commanded that the pieces left over would be gathered.
