Insight: John 1:35-2:22
Jesus started His Ministry by calling his twelve disciples. These were the men that would continue what would later be called Christianity after Jesus’ departure from this earth. During His Ministry, Jesus demonstrated miracles to prove that He had the authority as the Son of God.
God and People
John the Baptist ascribed Jesus as the “Lamb of God,” since He was sent by God the Father to be the Sacrificial Lamb that would take upon Himself all the sins of believers. Jesus also laid claim to the Temple courts as His “Father’s House.”
The disciples were astonished when they first met Jesus. They witnessed the water that was turned to wine at Cana. The miracles were performed so that both the people and the disciples recognized the authority of Jesus.
Jesus
Jesus called His disciples. He performed the miracle at Cana. He chased the money-changers out of the Temple courts, calling them thieves while in His Father’s house. He also spoke with authority to the Jews prophesizing His death and resurrection.
My Response
Sin: Do not steal another’s possessions (referring to the money-changers in the Temple courts).
Promise: Christ would die and rise from the grave
Example: The faithfulness and recognition that John the Baptist had with Jesus as the Lamb of God.
Commands:
