One of the most intriguing tenets of why the Bible is the Word of God is the frequent usage of the phrase, “This is what the LORD says . . .” This phrase occurs 426 times in the Old Testament. It reflects God’s dealings with people almost to the time of Christ. It is one thing if a person says something to someone else. But when a deity like the LORD says it, it then carries a special meaning. Whatever is being said is now viewed as important, truthful, and absolute. There can be no doubt about what the LORD has said, because He is God. Perhaps this is one of the most qualifying reasons why God’s Word is the absolute truth – because it comes from an absolute, true God.
