God’s Salvation to Us

In addition to God’s righteousness, He has also revealed His salvation to us. Consider God’s words written by a psalmist:

Sing to the LORD a new song,

   For he has done marvelous things;

His right hand and his holy arm

   Have worked salvation for him.

The LORD has made his salvation known

   and revealed his righteousness to the nations. (Psalm 98:2)

God’s Word is effective because it reveals God’s salvation to us. Saved from what? Saved from eternal separation from Him which is the just reward for our sins.[1] In other words, those of us who believe in Christ’s sacrifice and death on the cross for our sins will not experience eternal damnation. Our spirits will live in the presence of God forever. This revelation is extremely important to us and sums up God’s Word to us because it restores our relationship with Him after it was broken by the advent of sin in the world (see Genesis 3).

[1] God abhors sin and has nothing to do with it. That is why He sent Jesus Christ to this earth to die on the cross for our sins. We could not pay the penalty for our sins – only a divine God in the person of Jesus Christ could do that. That is why we should ask Him to forgive us of our sins and trust Him as our Lord.
